Anna is a third generation Trinity student, continuing the Traill family tradition. She follows her grandfather, Bill Traill (TC 1953) and her father, Michael Traill (TC 1979), who was also Senior Student in 1982.
Anna is also the fifth female to be elected as Senior Student, which is an outstanding achievement and a great lead in to the celebration of 40 years of women in College in 2014.
In Anna's letter to the members of the Junior Common Room, she stated:
My desire to stand as your Senior Student stems from my love for the culture and the College community we are so lucky to have here at Trinity. We can all attest to the brilliance and diversity of the people that surround us, coupled with a widespread attitude of inclusivity. In my 18 months at Trinity I have learned, participated and grown in this community. As Female Sports Rep this year I have also had the privileged opportunity to contribute. I am running for Senior Student because I want to continue to do that.
To me, the role of Senior Student encompasses a number of areas. Importantly, the Senior Student provides a link between the residential community and other facets of the college. The Senior Student is an ambassador for what Trinity stands for, both inside and outside of the Fleur-de-Lys embellished gates. The Senior Student must lead by example and ensure that there is ample opportunity for all students’ voices to be heard and represented.
...Trinity is a special place. The people here make up a vibrant, interesting and interested community. I have enjoyed the privileged opportunity to connect and contribute in ways I had not anticipated when I came here as a second year in 2012. I know I can bring experience, an ability to listen and engage, and a passion for Trinity’s strong traditions and the ways in which we can grow, to the role of Senior Student.
Congratulations, Anna! The Trinity community wishes you all the best in leading the Residential College for the next year.
