‘I knew we had plenty of talent at Trinity in terms of instrumentalists so I thought I would have a go at harnessing that talent and seeing what we could put together,’ Felicity said.
Pat Miller, who had previously been a music tutor at the College, conducts the group. The group is open to everyone in the Trinity community, including tutors and alumni as well. They rehearse on Monday nights, with a few extra rehearsals before a concert. Their repertoire consists of a mix of classical and contemporary music with current students helping with the transposition of music.
‘Playing in an orchestra is a great way for students to interact and work together. My hope is to have more Foundation Studies and Theological students join the group – I can see it being a really good way to forge stronger relationships between the three arms of the College.
‘I really want this to be a sustainable project, and something that will continue to flourish after I leave Trinity.’
The group has already performed at Big Day In and the Dean’s Dinner and is set to perform at future events later this year.
